The term “search engine” is a perfect way to define the function of dynamic online directories like Google or Yahoo. If your website is “search engine optimized” search engines have the potential to boost your business income just like a commuter train whisks travellers from point A to point B.
The simple fact is superior search engine rankings improve your chances of being found by your target market and that’s an important business goal.
If your prospective customer searches for a product or service that you offer you can’t afford to be on page two of a Google return. You know yourself that when you’re looking for something online, you place a higher value on the returns that show up on the first page of results.
Who’s got the time to search through pages of search returns? I can tell you that not too many buying customers have that kind of time or patience. Getting top search results on the search engines is fast becoming a necessity for anybody who wants to be in business for the long-run.
There are all sorts of technical explanations for how this occurs and how you can make it happen but what you are likely looking for is the easiest and most accurate way of “making this so.”
Preparing good content that contains your keywords is a beginning point. But one of the easiest ways to move your website up the search engine rankings list is to use WordPress as the foundation for your website. Good article. But I don’t use wordpress. Any advice for blogspot users?
Sorry Pat, I used blogspot for about 5 minutes back in 2007! I didn’t enjoy using it and switched quickly to WordPress – consequently my knowledge about blogspot is negligible. I don’t recall hearing anything about any plug-ins being developed for that free platform. My best suggestion: use WordPress!
I’m amazed at how many wonderful plug-ins there are for WP, but wasn’t aware of these. Thanks so much for sharing valuable resources!
OK, I read this…still clueless!
